I been blogging since 1982.  I have covered a lot of subjects.  I was a member of the Green Party back a long time ago.  I have always been interested in living green and promoting it.
But I knew nothing about gas drilling and fracturing fluid until I moved to Fort Worth.  It is an issue in Fort Worth and Dallas.  It is an issue in Texas and in other states.
It seems when the oil corporations drill for natural gas they use dangerous hydraulic fracturing fluid.  They drill by using a LOT of water with sand and hydraulic "fracturing" fluid.  The oil corporations refuse to tell the public or government what fracturing fluid they use!
I know it is hard to believe that they have been doing this for years and they just thumb their nose at the public and government.  Hell they give us the finger.
Now the oil corporations say that the fracturing mix is 95% water.  Hell they will say it is 99.5 % water.  But they use millions of gallons of water.
After they pour that dirty dangerous mix down the well to do the drilling they pump out the sludge and they may bury the sludge right there. We do not know what they do with the left over unknown crap.

In June we used 814 Kw.  In July we used 864 Kw.  The August amount was 1567 Kw!  I am in Fort Worth and we have had weeks of temps over 100 degrees.
I got my electric bill and this month it was $130.12 for the month.
That is a lot of money for me but I know it has been hot and the air has been going full time.
But I noticed something on the bill this month.  I got two credits that total $55.63 so my bill should have been $185.75 without that discount.  I would have a hard time paying an electric bill of that amount.
The discount is for low income people.  I am sure a low income person but I do not remember applying for any assistance.  I checked last months bill and I got no discount so something is going on.  I will have to find out what is going on.
You get the discount if you are on food stamps or Medicade.  I am not getting food stamps or Medicade.
You also can get it if you apply and your income is less than 125 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.
You can find those numbers at this LIHEAP ClearingHouse Site
So for one person 125% of the poverty guidelines would be $13,538.00
For two people 125% of the poverty guidelines    would be $18,213.00
With my SS of $1095.00 a month and the $175.00 retirement I get that puts me just over the guidelines.  If my grandson was counted I am not sure where that would put me. He is working part-time.  So I do not think we would be over the poverty guideline.  I sure do not feel like it.
So I will have to find out why I got a discount. I may have filled out some form but I sure do not remember filling out a form and if I did fill one out it does not look like I would be accepted.

"When you think of LTE, regional carrier Metro PCS may not be the first thing that comes to mind.  That will change soon, however, as Metro PCS has announced that they will be bringing an LTE-capable handset onto its 4G network called the Samsung Craft.  The Craft is the same device we saw about a week ago passing through the FCC as theSCH-R900, and will cost around the same as Metro PCS’s other smartphone offerings, around $250-$280.  Metro PCS plans to launch its LTE network later this year in Las Vegas, and they’ll be adding the Dallas-Ft. Worth area early next year.
No matter what carrier pushes it out, I know I’m excited to finally see some LTE phones hit the market.  The fact that the Craft is hitting Metro PCS, known to be more of a budget-friendly carrier, just adds to the excitement.  With around 7 million subscribers, Metro PCS may not be the biggest wireless carrier out there, but they definitely seem to be one of the most aggressive when it comes to 4G, and I love them for it."  www.phonedog.com

"The HTC EVO and soon to be released Samsung Epic may be the only 4G handsets available right now, but they’ll be getting some company some time in the near future.  The very first LTE handset has gotten the FCC’s stamp of approval, and it’s the CDMA/LTE Samsung SCH-R900.  The device, heading to Metro PCS, will be released before the end of the year.  The SCH-R900 includes a 1700/1900 MHz LTE radio, Bluetooth, and WiFi.  There’s not much else to learn about the device, but who cares?  It’s the first LTE phone!
It’s kind of surprising to see that the first LTE phone passing through the FCC will be heading to Metro PCS, but the company did announce the device back in March.  We haven’t heard any information yet about LTE phones on any other carriers that are supporting it, so this is great news for Metro PCS.  There’s no definite launch date for the device, but it wouldn’t it be interesting if Metro PCS was the first carrier out of the gate with an LTE device on the market?"  www.phonedog.com

LTE is "Long Term Evolution" network and operates in the 700 MHz band.  It is going to be 4G.

My ex-wife needs to send a package via Priority Mail to Australia.  She does not have the Form 2976-E (she needs the clear envelope).  I am looking for someone that can send us the form.  She needs it fast.  The post office will send out supplies to her but it takes x number of days.  I do not want my son to have to take the bus and then walk in this heat (105 F).
Darlene is all worrying about it.  She makes little things into big things.
So I am wondering if there is someone out there in ShowMeBlog land that works for the post office (US) or lives right next to one or has to go to one for their work or something that can send us the form she needs.  I can put a couple bucks in your PayPal account when you send it or if you want to send it Priority Mail I will pay you for it.  (I just don’t want her to know I paid for sending Priority Mail.  She tries to save and get by on as little as she can.)
Let me know if you can help out.   showmeblog@mail.com

"A mosque in Texas was heavily vandalized last weekend, coming in the wake of anational intolerance movement by the right wing against Muslim places of worship. On Friday, members of the Dar El-Eman Islamic Education Center, in South Arlington, found “graffiti depicting Uncle Sam and Allah in a sexual position spray-painted in the parking lot.” Then, early Sunday morning, in a case of suspected arson, a fire destroyed playground equipment at the mosque, causing $20,000 worth of damage. The vandals also cut a pipe, allegedly thinking that it was a natural gas line. The playground equipment had been purchased with funds raised from “relatives, neighbors and friends” of the center’s students:…

The mosque’s president told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that it is “hard” for the children to understand the incident, “because this is a house of prayer.” The vandalism “is the fruit of hate,” he said. “You keep implanting fear in people’s hearts, and it makes them evil.” An open gas canister was left inside a mosque under construction in the same town last summer, and there was a separate “attack” reported recently in nearby Rockwall. Meanwhile, in Temecula, CA, where the local Muslim community wants to build a new mosque, about 20 people protested its construction Friday, carrying signs reading, “Muslims Danced for Joy on 9/11” and “No Sharia Law.”…

Think Progress

I hope that when something like this happens that other religions in the area are there the next day to help clean up the mess, to pray with the people, to re-build and make the place better than it was before the damage.
That is the sort of story I want to hear about.

Russell and I first moved here to Fort Worth in November of 2009.  We had lived in Miami for about six years.
We moved into a one bedroom apartment.  I got the bedroom this time.  In Miami Russ had one of the two bedrooms and Ken had the other.  So this time I got the bedroom.

One of my concerns was the electric bill here.  I am living on a very limited income until I win the lottery (just joking everyone …I am not one of those people that thinks he is going to win the lottery).
I signed up with TXU Energy and I been very happy with the bills.  The first full bill was for December (2009) and it was $104.44,  then the next bill was $150.14, $110.79, $85.68, $69.94, $57.40 and last month was $95.56 and this month was $74.29 for July.
So I have four months that I have never seen a past bill;  August, September, October and November.
If the monthly bill is $100.00 or under I am happy.
We do not pay a water or gas bill.  We do not own a car.

A new month and this will be a hot month for Fort Worth.  We just need to make it through August and the weather will start and get better.
I been running the ceiling fan in my room.  We have one in the living room and I have not been running it.  I did not pay any attention but there is a switch for direction of the fan.  I guess I have had it running in the wrong direction for the hot weather.

"…In the summer, use the ceiling fan in the counterclockwise direction. While standing directly under the ceiling fan you should feel a cool breeze. The airflow produced creates a wind-chill effect, making you "feel" cooler. In the winter, reverse the motor and operate the ceiling fan at low speed in the clockwise direction. This produces a gentle updraft, which forces warm air near the ceiling down into the occupied space. Remember to adjust your thermostat when using your ceiling fan — additional energy and dollar savings could be realized with this simple step!"  Energy Star

It is 87 F right now at 0837 hours.  It is going to get to 104 F today in Fort Worth.  But it will be cooler the rest of the week 103 on Monday, 103 on Tuesday, 102 on Wednesday, 101 on Thursday, 101 on Friday and hell on Saturday we may need to put on a coat it is only going to be 100 degrees in Fort Worth.

President Obama turns 49 next week, and OFA supporters across the country are sharing in the fun.
Volunteers on the ground are holding birthday parties — and we’ll be recruiting new volunteers for this grassroots movement that has helped President Obama so much.

It is hot in Fort Worth (TX).  I was out in the heat.

CIMG1554

Do I look hot?  Well,  OK OK  you know what I mean.
(Of course I look "hot" with my new hat on.  I am sure woman all over the world, and gay guys, want me after seeing me with my new hat on and a sweat worked up.)

Sonic is open for breakfast in west Fort Worth.  I just had their SuperSONIC Breakfast Burrito.

"Let the big flavor of the SuperSONIC® Breakfast Burrito get you out of bed. A medley of Savory Sausage, Scrambled Egg, Melty Cheese, Tater Tots, Diced Onions, Ripe Tomatoes and Spicy Jalapeños all wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. It’ll sing to your taste buds. Which, if you ask us, is a pretty cool way to start your morning."

It was pretty good.  I like Jalaperios but I think they should cut them smaller or something.  I also like Tater Tots but with them in the burrito I just got the feeling that they were left over from last night.  I know that is not the case they are being smart and working and building with the food they sell and not having to stock some other item.  But I eat their hamburgers in the afternoon and at night and I eat them with a side order of Tater Tots.  Smile

Next time I am just going to try the plain Breakfast Burrito.
