I would have to win a lottery …Which is not going to happen… But I was wondering what sort of home could I buy in Fort Worth if I had a LOT of money. If money was no object what type of home could a person buy in Fort Worth. I lived in Miami for over five years and I know what you can buy down there. What about here in Fort Worth?
I looked at a bunch of them online and you know I do not think I would be happy with them even if I had that sort of money. They are to big. They are to spread out. It would be great for a big young family. I would want something on water. I guess if I had money I would be thinking about someplace in FL. Someplace without oil washing up on the beach and someplace in FL, if there is such a place, that had people speaking English. When I lived in Miami there was a house that was for sale that was used by the CIA in the past and it came with an island. Now that sounds like my sort of place.
I think on Saturday I may have a dollar and if I do I will buy a lottery ticket. If I win you can help me pick out a new big home! SMILE
Fourth of July celebrations should be fun — and safe. The Fort Worth Fire Department encourages residents to leave fireworks to trained professionals because, in the wrong hands, they can cause serious injury. Besides, fireworks are illegal to possess, use or sell in the Fort Worth city limits.
Enforcement teams of police officers and firefighters will be patrolling the city this weekend. Anyone caught violating the ordinance will be ticketed and all fireworks will be confiscated. Fines for a fireworks citation range from $564 to $2,000; violators may receive multiple citations.
Fireworks pose a risk of starting unwanted fires. The hazards include uncontrolled fires set by wayward rockets and mortars.
Physical injury to fireworks users and bystanders is common. Sparklers — yes, even sparklers are banned — burn at more than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Fort Worth Fire Department hopes that all residents enjoy this holiday in a safe and legal way. The department recommends that Fort Worth residents leave the fireworks to the professionals and find a public display to watch, such as at Fort Worth’s Fourth.
I went out last night as soon as it got dark looking for fireworks. I saw some in the distance a long way off. I heard a very few fire crackers in the area. I did not know that fireworks were illegal in Fort Worth. I have to say that it looked like everyone was following the law. That is a surprise to me. I been in other cities were fireworks not legal and everyone was shooting them anyway. I was the only officer working in Raymore (MO) one year and fireworks were illegal and the entire town was out in their yards and the streets shooting hem off. I had to be careful there was so much smoke it was hard to drive.
I have been living here in west Fort Worth for about six months. The apartment rent is not bad ($475.00 for a one bedroom). The electric bill has not been to bad. Everyone seems very nice here. This is a mixed race area. I am not sure what the stats are but I am white and I think everyone is very friendly and nice. My son is 33 years old and has schizophrenia. His medication cost almost $400.00 a month and he has been getting it for just a small payment each month. I am not sure if the drug company is giving out the medication for free or just how it works. My ex-wife has many medical problems and she can get around Fort Worth using the MITTS bus. She has to pay a small fee for service but she can get to the doctor’s offices and other places in her wheelchair. I spent a bit over five years in Miami FL. The weather was great but I think for someone that only speaks English that Miami is the worst place to live in the United States.
Right now I am very happy here in Fort Worth. I agree the Republicans down here in Texas are fucking up the state but hell they are all over the United States. If you can tell me where to go to get away from the GOP I would be happy.
I decided today was the day to try out the little Mexican store that is near here. It was just starting to rain when I walked over to the store.
It is a food market with a large meat section and they are set up to serve food. The cook did not speak English but the other guy did. I had them make me a burrito with eggs, sausage and the extras in it. It was excellent. It was big. They cut it in half for me. Next time I will eat haft there and take the other half home.
Sonic was open early so I got Russ a drink from there. He loves their drinks. I got very wet walking home.
I did a search on the web and found Fort Worth Hole In The Wall and they review Carniceria y Taqueria 2 Hermanos.
I like my new doctor. I have had a new doctor since I been here in Fort Worth. This doctor will send me test results at home. He will write on the test results if he needs to see me or if they are OK. My doctor is Todd K. Cowan at the Health First-Green Oaks.
I love seeing a actual copy of the report. I had lab word done on 0/07/2010. It was mainly to check on my potassium level since I am now on a water pill. He also has me taking a potassium pill.
My potassium level was 4.4 (the range is 3.5 to 5.3). Now I notice that my Glucose level is 111 and that is high (the range is 65-99 mg/dL). But we did the better Glucose test a few months ago and my level was OK. So nothing to worry about…I say that as I pour myself a another glass of Coke.
I went to BestBuy today and I got a LG Rumor Touch cell phone. It was $149.99 so they do not have the special any more. I am going to post today or tomorrow on YouTube and here my feeling about the cell phone and Virgin Mobile. If you are offended by cuss words then do not watch the video. Smile
If you buy a LG Rumor Touch when you go to Virgin Mobile to sign up they will ask you if someone told you about the phone/service and they will ask for a "kickback" code. Put in: eJ7W7Tnn You will get an extra 60 minutes free and I will get 60 minutes added to my service.
I love the phone. I signed up for the $40.00 a month plan. So I will have 1100 minutes a month. If you can live with 300 minutes a month you can get service for $25.00 a month. Do not forget the "kickback" code: eJ7W7Tnn and get an extra 60 minutes. It is a hell of a phone and for $25.00 a month it is a hell of a deal. Why then will I be screaming and cussing in the video about it? Hay, I want you to wait and see my having a fit and do not want to spoil the fun of seeing me pissed off.
BestBuy would have put in the battery and activated the phone for me. I came home and did it. If you buy the phone someplace let them put in the battery and activate it for you. Smile
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — "The booming Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area added more residents during the past decade than any other city in the United States.
According to the latest Census Bureau figures, the population of the sprawling Texas metro area grew by about 1.3 million people, or 25%, between April 1, 2000, and July 1, 2009…"
I am not sure if I followed everyone else here or if they are all following me. I live in Fort Worth. I been here about six months.
My new HP w2338H LCD monitor, I got it November 25th of last year, has a bad power supply. It was buzzing for a day or so and I did not know it was the monitor until it shut off on me. Now if I turn on the monitor it will buzz for about two minutes and then it will shut off. Hewlett-Packard (HP) in the past have made great hardware. I hope that has not changed. I have never had to contact them about warranty work. I will be contacting them later today. I hope it goes well.
You will remember that I had a nice Gateway LCD monitor before this that I loved. The power supply went out on it. But it was not under warranty. I am poor, I do not want to be buying new LCD monitors all the time. I want to buy other things.
I got the monitor at BestBuy in Fort Worth. I guess if I had got a service contract with them I could have just returned it to them. But those contracts are a rip off. Not just from them but all of them. They make tons of money from those contracts. But sometimes they are nice to have. But I have had problems in the past with BestBuy and I have had lots of friends that have had problems with them. (I have not had any problems with the Fort Worth BestBuy yet.)
I am thinking about getting a new cell phone on Wednesday. That is in about 3 day. I am thinking about going with Virgin Mobile. I think I will go with the LG Rumor Touch phone. The only thing it does not do that I wish it would do is Wi-Fi. I was thinking it is to bad that I don’t have a Wi-Fi device. I forgot that I do have one. I have a Toshiba laptop. I got it hooked up and use it like a desktop so I forget that it is a laptop. I do not have a bad to carry it in and with the temp today running 99 degrees I am not sure I want to carry it around. I need a cell phone or small device that does Wi-Fi. Any recommendations? hnbbs@usa.net
Here is one list of Wi-Fi spots in Fort Worth – SuperPages
I do not have cable TV. I have cable Internet service. My ex-wife, Darlene, lives down stairs and she has cable Internet service, cable phone service and cable TV. We both get our service from Charter. Now I give her $100.00 a month to help her with those service since she is disabled and living on a very limited income. We were going to share Internet service via WiFi but you know me I want all the band width I can get so I have my own Internet service.
OK here is the deal…I am as poor as a church mouse also. I miss not having cable TV. It has been sort of boring around here and I would like to watch a few shows on cable TV. I never had TiVo service in the past but I was a fan of the service when it first started up. I think it is a great idea.
I understand that TiVo now works with WiFi. What I am wondering is if I get a TiVo unit with WiFi and hook it up to her cable TV system… Are you following me? Then I could be upstairs and tell the system to record the shows that I want to see and it would not effect her viewing downstairs and then when I wanted to view the programs I could just watch them via WiFi on my computer monitor? They have a Charter WiFi cable modem but I could just use my WiFi system correct? I have seen a TiVo device that you hook a WiFi device to it.
I think people are doing this now… but it is room to room in their home. The only difference would be it would be from apartment to apartment in this case. If you are wondering I did ask Charter if they could run the cable from downstairs to this apartment. They said no and I can understand that because that would cut into their business big time. In this case we are all family but everyone else in apartments would be saying the same thing. Well I guess an ex-wife is not family but my grown son also lives down stairs.
Any idea on this? Charter will supply a TiVo unit for x amount of money? Will those units do WiFi? If not I could buy one that will do WiFi for about $200.00 and the WiFi device for it is about $35.00 and there maybe other units. I have not done a search on all of this yet.
Back a few years ago I was living in Hillsboro (TX) and I got kicked out of Texas. The only thing in Hillsboro that I was going to miss was a Mexican eating place that had the best breakfast. I do not even know what it was called or what the heck I was eating but it was good. About two blocks from here is a Mexican food store and they have a meat market inside and a place you can order and eat food.
They open early and I am going to see if they can fix me a Mexican breakfast one day soon. Anyone know what do Mexicans eat for breakfast? What would a Mexican breakfast be? I am going to guess eggs, beans and rice? What should I ask for in Spanish?
I am just sure that ants are from outer space. We been here six months and we now have ants. I swear they are the same ones we had in Miami. I think they followed us and it took them six months to get here. I went and got donuts and I had to put them in my room. We got a few ants in the kitchen. We have had zero bugs in here for six months and now we got ants. Russ got pizza the other day and he put the boxes in the living room to keep the ants from getting to the pizza. I hate all sorts of bugs.
I am very happy with the look of the last couple of videos that I have made. The look I like the content I am not happy with… I will need to work on content.
I made an audio recording of my doctor’s office visit. I did not tell the doctor. I feel very funny about that. I did it so I could remember everything he said AND, of course, so I could post it on the blog. Smile But I sort of feel that it was not the right thing to do. I did not name the doctor and I am not doing it for any bad reason…But I feel like it is wrong for some reason.
In the audio you can see that he was not happy with the swelling in my foot and leg. That is interesting because I did not think it was that big of a deal. My foot and leg has been swollen up VERY big before.. I guess I got to pay more attention to any swelling because the doctor did not like even a little. I bet I would feel a lot better if I control that water build up in my body.
I just had two big donuts. I washed it all down with Coke. Not the way to start the day. I got enough sugar in me for the week.
The Uniden BCT8 radio scanner I got on eBay is at $61.00 and there is only 11 hours to go on bidding. It is worth $200.00 and it looks like someone is going to get a hell of a deal. Six people have made bids. There have been 258 page views. I think that at the last some people will start bidding on it. I would like to see it sell for $175.00 but I would be happy with $150.00 but right now.. it it is looking like I may have messed up by not making it a Buy It Now only sale or by starting the bidding much higher.
I went to the doctor’s office today. I found out the results of the CT scan of my chest. Nothing I have to worry about. It looks normal and I do not need to have it checked again later. But the scan of my chest did turn up a problem. I have gallstones. I do not know if you remember reading my blog when I been saying that the more I eat the worst I feel. I now know the reason. I looked up gallstones and what you should not eat. I should not eat all the things that I eat..everything that I love I should not eat.
A good Friend of Unfair Park, through a friend of a friend of a friend, just shot us this extraordinary video captured early yesterday morning at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Took place at the north toll plaza, which served as a launching ramp for one drunk driver trying to exit the airport in a hurry. DFW spokesman David Magana confirms: "The driver was, as you might guess, suspected of inebriation and investigated for such and arrested for such." We also have fiery post-crash pics after the jump — because after the driver went all General Lee, she got out and made a call on her cell, at which point the vehicle went boom. Hard to believe the "driver only suffered minor injuries," as Magana puts it. Oh — and the toll-booth operator wasn’t injured at all. Update at 11:37 a.m. Thursday: The driver’s name is Yasmine Villasana. And here’s the whole police report.
Although this blog hasn't reviewed Ellerbe's, the Bon Appetit blog has and they say that Ellerbe's is one of the Top 10 Best New Restaurants in the United States. Check out the Bon Appetit blog. One favor though - for all of you who follow that link, don't start expecting quality reviews like Bon Appetit provides. Also note that dallas di […]
Mamma Mia's has recently taken over the old Palermo's location on Magnolia. We've switched out Italian restaurants and I daresay, we traded up. If you'll remember, which you no doubt will, I was quite impressed with the scrappy little Palermo's. That dirty hole in the wall that had lasted for years on Magnolia even when little else w […]
My real FWHITW resolutions: 1) Go to the following places in the new year: ... Nona Tata Over two years ago I made this New Year's Resolution to visit Nonna Tata. That was before 2008. I finally made it, but it took until 2010. Nonna Tata is the Southside sensation that has filled its small space every night with crowds waiting outside for some deliciou […]
Recently, there was an article in the Star-Telegram about Las Vegas Trail in Fort Worth and how it used to be the hip cool place to live. The time period of its reign was sometime in the 80's. Picture bowling teams, Dales, Rhondas. and lots of rolled up sleeves on suits. That's what was going on in Fort Worth's little Vegas. Although by the lo […]
Sitting in a small strip center off of Forest Park is a Greek restaurant which has been around longer than me. The Greek House moved to the Forest Park Restaurant Row (Greek House, Sapristi, Ruffino's, Grady's) years ago, but existed long before that. It's run by an older couple that I can only assume are the parents of the World's Number […]
You may recall that I recently found a great Thai place. Well, Fort Worth has another great Thai place (that makes three when you add in Thai Tina). Junsuree was recommended by many of you folks through emails, comments, threatening bricks thrown through the official HITW hideout, etc. But finally, some "locals" who are somehow related to Sarah Pal […]
Did you hear that Fort Worth will be hosting ESPN for Super Bowl week? dallas is pissed (according to the Observer website). Turns out, nobody in dallas really knows whats going on over here. So I'm going to extend an informal invitation to the people of the Near East to come and enjoy our town. To entice them, here is a hole in the wall bar review. Hav […]
For too many years, Flying Fish has sat collecting dust in the "Is it a hole" department. Something about it seemed chainy. It fit so well into its environment that it confused the department's editors. After a recent visit, I pulled it out of the department. It is in fact a small chain with about five or six other locations. However, bec […]
I've updated the format and layout of the blog for the first time in three years. At some point, I'll also be removing many of the tags that seem useless in order to make them more streamlined. This way you'll just see a list of basic restaurant types, with a few tabs for "patio" and a few other useful things. If you've got any […]
Alright all you Fall Foliage Fanatics, its time to get out and show yourself...so we can judge you harshly. And where is the best place to view the Fort's Fall Foliage? Near the trees, obviously. George's Specialty Foods on White Settlement faces the Trinity, northwest of downtown and all the large trees along the river bank. When the weather is ni […]
