I been blogging since 1982.  I have covered a lot of subjects.  I was a member of the Green Party back a long time ago.  I have always been interested in living green and promoting it.
But I knew nothing about gas drilling and fracturing fluid until I moved to Fort Worth.  It is an issue in Fort Worth and Dallas.  It is an issue in Texas and in other states.
It seems when the oil corporations drill for natural gas they use dangerous hydraulic fracturing fluid.  They drill by using a LOT of water with sand and hydraulic "fracturing" fluid.  The oil corporations refuse to tell the public or government what fracturing fluid they use!
I know it is hard to believe that they have been doing this for years and they just thumb their nose at the public and government.  Hell they give us the finger.
Now the oil corporations say that the fracturing mix is 95% water.  Hell they will say it is 99.5 % water.  But they use millions of gallons of water.
After they pour that dirty dangerous mix down the well to do the drilling they pump out the sludge and they may bury the sludge right there. We do not know what they do with the left over unknown crap.

I think I should be living in the Austin Texas area and not the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I do not have a problem with schools teaching abstinence from sex until you are an adult.  My problem is if they teach "abstinence only" education.  They need to teach sex education.
The state of Texas is big there is a small light of hope in the SMCISD.

I went to the doctor’s office today.  I found out the results of the CT scan of my chest.  Nothing I have to worry about.  It looks normal and I do not need to have it checked again later.
But the scan of my chest did turn up a problem.  I have gallstones.  I do not know if you remember reading my blog when I been saying that the more I eat the worst I feel.  I now know the reason.
I looked up gallstones and what you should not eat.  I should not eat all the things that I eat..everything that I love I should not eat.

I got a call today from my doctor's office.  They set up the CAT scan for me.  It is at 9:30 AM on Thursday.  One map service said it was 9.9 miles from here and Google Maps says it is 11.8 miles from here.
I went to The T (Fort Worth bus and rail service) site but I did not see any way to get directions. I may have to call them on the telephone.  I think on some city site I may have seen where to get directions. I need the bus routes.
When I was in the ER the other day they did an x-ray of my chest and they found a small spot on my right lung.  I need a CAT scan to see what it is.

I called The T phone number just now and I will have to take the 26 bus and then get the 2 bus and then get the 46 bus.  They do not go to the location but they can get me two miles from the place.  So I will have to walk two miles.
I can make it two miles.  I am not sure what my blood pressure will be at the end of the two miles walk but I can make it.  What I am worrying about is getting their on time.
Then of course I will have to repeat the two mile walk and get the 46 bus, then the 2 bus and then the 26 bus back home.

So the miles above do no apply because I will going all over Fort Worth to get there.  Then I have to hope that the weather is not bad.  No rain for that two mile walk would be nice.

May 062010

I left here at 0800 and I had to take money out of the ATM.  Then I got two lottery tickets.  That was so I could get $3.00 in ones for the bus.
The lotto cash value is $56,700,000.00 and you know I could have a pretty nice computer for that money.
The Powerball ticket is worth $39,500.000.00 and with that money I could still get a computer.  Smile

I got the number 26 bus to the Green Oaks Clinic.  Pretty nice place.  They are even open on Saturday and they will work a patient if you just walk in without an appointment.
In Miami it was hard to see a doctor on a Saturday and there was no walk in patients.  You had to call and get an appointment and it might be three weeks or a month.
My doctor (Todd Cowan MD) was not working.  I like him.  So they had me see Robert Jackson (PA-C).  He seemed nice.
Well my weight was 207 and my BP was 197/xx.
They are going to have me take one time a day Azor.  They gave me about 5 weeks of it. So they can see how I am doing on it.  It is a re-placement for the Lisinopril.  So I left the doctor’s office with my BP still high and still in pain.  I just have to hope that the medication will fix my problem.

Oh, the doctor’s office is going to call me and tell me when I can get my CAT scan of my chest.  That is for the spot on my right lung.

Then I walked over to the dentist office.  I wanted them to check my tooth or the place were my tooth had been and look and see if they see any infection.  No problem they took me in right away and did an x-ray of the gum.  The dentist asked about the bruising on my face.  Smile
I told him that was from pulling that tooth…I told him everyone has been asking about it.  I said "don’t worry I did not mention your name." Smile
He did a little post op work on it.  He gave me some Rx and told me if it was not better next week to come back.  They did not charge for this visit.

I then went to the mall and got a nice "Cajun" meal and I took my first Azor pill.

I made it home OK.  I am tired.  My head hurts.  I have not taken my BP yet but I can tell by my head that it is still high.  I have pain medication. I think I will take one at 3 PM and that may last me until bed time.
I just took my BP and it is 173/74.  That is still high but it is better.

You have been reading about my swollen feet and legs here.  You been reading about my medical problems.  I feel so sorry for you all.  Smile
I blog about what is going on in my life and what I am interested in at the time.  I been doing this since 1982 so many of you have had a ride over the years as I have.

First off I should say to all of you.. You all were correct.  I should have listened to all of you.  I needed to get in right away and tell my doctor about my swollen feet and legs.  Hell I was at my doctor’s a couple of weeks ago and never said a word to him about the swelling in my feet or legs.
My feel and legs were getting bigger and bigger.  I guess it took a major painful headache and that fact that I could not lay down and go to sleep because of SOB.  I also would be panting from coming up one set of stairs.  I think the woman in the next apartment would hear me panting and lock her door.  Smile
I should have gone to see my doctor sooner.  I can not blame him.  You can just show up at his office and he will work you in and see you.
Well as you know I was hurting bad.  It is rare for me to get a headache and I have never had one like the one that I was having.
Truth is I made up my mind that if I was going to have the problems I was having at the time…If they could not be corrected I was not going to hang around in this world.  The not being able to sleep was a major thing.  Having pain is one thing but trying to lay down and not feeling like I take in a breath of air was another thing for me.  It scared the hell out of me.
Just think if I had not gone into the hospital and got this fixed you would have had to read about my plans to kill myself.

OK OK…confess up… I will not be mad at you (trust me) smile.  I went by ambulance to the Harris Methodist Hospital.  More about that later on ShowMeBlog.  I went to the ER and they hooked me up to all sorts of things with long cords and blinking lights.  It was clear I was going to be their for hours.
Then I could see a large TV and I could hear the sound.  How many of you have been in a waiting room or someplace and their is TV set but you can not hear the sound.  This was almost like I had my own big TV set.  Then I heard some stupid "news" reporting and I was thinking who in the hell is this and then I looked and they had FOX "NEWS" on their TV screens.  I know this is Texas but my God "Fox News."  What is management thinking?
My PB was 220 at that point.  I looked around thinking other patients and family would be objecting.  I did not see anyone objecting.  They put medications in my IV port.  The idea being to get the my BP down and right away.  They took my BP and it was 226!
OK I was thinking of all you…I went down the list …Which one of you would do such a thing?  I am tied to a ER bed for hours and hours and and forced to watch and listen to Fox News.  I was thinking witch of you would tie a life  wing  liberal  Democrat to a bed or a chair and make him watch Fox News?  I was going to circle you name, in red, on my list.  Any on of you jokers want to confess?
You know what would be interesting, remember this is Texas, what if witched switched to CNN on the TV sets?  I bed you would have a lot of patients and visitor objecting to that left wing, Socialist, Communist CNN being on the TV set.  It would be an interesting little test to pull.  But remember Texas is very much pro gun.  Smile

I took the bus to the Monarch Dental Clinic.  They looked in their computer and said I had no appointment.  She said let me call down the street to our other Monarch Dental office.  She called and the other office looked at their computer and said I had no appointment.
Now the first office said they would see me but they do not take my insurance and I would have to pay for everything.  I said no thanks.  She said the dentist would see me for $39.00 and I asked will he do for that?  She said check your teeth.  I said no thanks.
I walked down to the other Monarch Dental Clinic office and I said I know your other office just called you but would you check on your computer again.  They did and I had an appointment.  The first employee had looked at the wrong date for appointments.

So I fill out all their paper work. They took an x-ray of the one bad tooth.  This was a "focus" visit.  Then I saw Doctor John Strickland (D.D.S).  He asked if it hurt and I said only when my heart beats.  He said so it is in the nerve.
He said well we got a couple of ways to go…full the tooth and put in a crown…or do a root canal and put in a crown…He said he would have the clerk check on insurance and come back and talk to me…After a bit the woman came back and she had a sheet of paper with $1100.00 on it and $2100.00 it.
Pull the tooth and put in a crown and I pay $1100.00 or they do a root canal and put in a crown and I pay $2100.00 for it.
I have no idea how much the insurance company is paying.  How much would all of this cost if I did not have insurance?  How much do dentist make?  How much do they make per hour?
Well I told the woman I am on a fixed income. I can not afford those options so we will just have to pull the tooth.  She said the doctor told you what would happen etc.  I said yes.. and I know just pulling the tooth is not the best option but it is all I can afford.  So she pulls out a paper from under the rest of them and it has $312.00 on it. That is to pull the tooth.  That is what I will have to pay.  I told her that will have to be what I will have done but I do not have the money  so make the appointment in 28 days for me to come in and have them pull the tooth.

Now keep in mind that I pay $95.00 a month for Medicare and I am paying an extra $39.00 a month for the "deluxe" rider so that I have better dental benefits!

They did get me a Rx for three medications.  One is an antibiotic, one is Lortab (narcotic) and the other I can’t read but I think it is some form of something like Tylenol except you need a Rx to get it.  These are for pulling the tooth.

I got home from the doctor’s office.  I had good news.  My glucose (sugar) level was only 109.  High but OK.  I drink to much Coke and I will try and cut down or cut it out.
The doctor said my cholesterol was very good.  I think he said the good cholesterol was 103.  Or he might have said 113.  I know he said it was very good.

On the way home I got my mail and there was a bill from Charter Communications.  I only have Internet service from them.  We have the Plus service and that is 10 M down.  They have increased the speed to 16 Mbps down at no increase in price.
The Express went from 5 M down to 8 M down.
The Max service went from 20 M down to 25 and the increased the upload speed from 2 M to 3 Mbps.
  I just used www.speedtest.com and I got 13.38M down and 2 M up.

I paid for a theme for my Word Press site awhile back and I have using it. Well when I got home I got an email from them that version 1.7 is now out.
So today is going to be a good day.

Now tomorrow I got to have some dental work done.  Tomorrow may not be a good day.  I had better enjoy today.

Mar 302010

I have not seen a dentist in over ten years.  I lost a filling about three months ago.  It was from my upper right side.  Well I been having pain for the last week.
I was waiting for my insurance company AARP MedicareComplete (SecureHorizons) to send me a list of dentists in their plan.  I never got it.  So I called today and they gave me an online link to get a list.  I have the Deluxe rider for dental and a few other options.
So the link was to www.myuhc.com  UnitedHealthcare Dental
Monarch Dental is in the plan and I was up there about a week ago asking if they took my plan and they were going to call me back and let me know.  I know just were they are located and I can get there by bus.
So I have an appointment, a "focus appointment, for April 1st.  It will be nice to get this problem fixed.  When I lived in Kansas City I would see the dentist two times a year and have cleaning done two times a year.
The focus appointment is just to take care of a problem that you have.. So I will need to make another appointment to have them check everything and do cleaning.

It is rare for me to have dental pain.  That is sort of bad.  If you have dental pain you will get in early and get something taken care of sooner.
I need my teeth cleaned of course.. I will be glad when I can get in and have that done.  I hate the cleaning work more than other dental work.
But it will be nice to get it taken care of… So I am going to have pain until the 1st of April.

onwaytoseedoctor   I called the other day for a doctor’s appoint with my new doctor.  I was surprised they said I could come in the next day.  So yesterday I went out and got the bus to the HealthFirst Medical Group Green Oaks Clinic.  It is at 6825 Green Oaks Road, Fort Worth, TX 76116) and is in the parking lot of Ridmar Mall.

They take walk in patients.  (Not on Saturday.)
It seemed like I had to wait a long time and I had an appointment but I did not have a watch so I am not sure how long it was waiting.
My new doctor is Todd K. Cowan and I liked him as soon as he came into the exam room.  I am glad I got him.

My insurance plan is the AARP MedicareComplete plan (from SecureHorizons) and it is a Medicare plan.  I took the #26 bus to get to the clinic.  So I did not have to transfer.  I like the Fort Worth bus service.  The bus runs each hour and it is at my bus stop at 32 minutes after the hour.  All the bus drivers I have had contact with have been great.  I live in west Fort Worth all the people I have had contact with have been great.
I just spent five years in Miami (FL) and I am loving Fort Worth.  Miami is nice for a vacation. The weather is great and the beaches are great but everything else sucks. I hate the people. I hated the fact that no one spoke English.  The police did not appear to me to be doing their jobs.
Everything I have seen here in Fort Worth has been great.  I hope I do not have contact with the police but they appear to be doing a great job.  I am an amateur (ham) radio operator and I can pick up police calls on my radio.  So far I have been impressed with the police, dispatchers, fire, ems etc.
So all went OK for my visit to my new doctor.  I have to have some lab work done.  Then I have to see the doctor again in three weeks.

"FORT WORTH — Briana Menendez, 13, has been battling serious health problems for two-and-a-half years now.

In Fort Worth Monday, she received a special honor given to only a few Americans: Honorary Marine.

Briana wore pink for her special day, but don’t let the color fool you — she’s as tough as they come. "She’s a combat veteran, too, in her own battle," said Col. Mark Toal.

For for a year-and-a-half, Briana has been fighting an aggressive form of lymphoma, which is a blood cancer. Wearing a smile through it all, her cancer went into remission twice — but this third time Briana learned from her doctor that the prognosis wasn’t good.

Her father, Master Sgt. Larry Menendez of the 8th Marine Corps, remembered the moment. "He went to talk to her and said, ‘Your life is going to come to an end.’ She looked and said, ‘Thank you.’"

Briana decided to stop all treatment. But her small frame is a pillar of strength, putting her hands over her heart as she longed for this day.

"Today, Briana is going to become the 68th Honorary Marine," Col. Toal announced to applause.

He awarded Briana the title, stealing a kiss from his youngest comrade whose only wish is to live her last moments following in her dad’s footsteps.

"Her becoming an Honorary Marine just really kind of makes it that much more special," Sgt. Menendez said.

Briana remained remarkably composed during the ceremony, but no one who has come to know her is surprised.

"She’s had 10 surgeries and she steadily fights," her father said.

That’s why Larry Menendez’ 8th Marine Corps unit made sure to welcome their youngest member, presenting her with dog tags from the Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps to wear in the battle of her life.

Other Marines left Briana with words of hope and inspiration. "I got a brand new baby girl," one Marine said tearfully. "I hope she turns out like you."

Two weeks ago, doctors had given Briana only days to live. Becoming an Honorary Marine was one more prayer answered, so she still has hope.

According to the Marines, the title given to Briana is to recognize civilians who make extraordinary contributions to the Marine Corps. The title can only be given by the Commandant of the Marine Corps and since 1992, only 67 people have received the honor."

FORT WORTH — A 13-year-old girl who became an honorary Marine earlier this week has died.

WFAA reported on Briana Menendez Monday. The young girl had lymphoma, and her final wish was to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Briana’s funeral is Saturday, and she will be buried in a Marine uniform.

“Dear Supporter,

The headlines are ominous. "Large scale health care reform is dead," reads one newspaper. "Time for Democrats to cut their losses?" asks another. But now is not the time for scaling back reform. That’s why we need your help to whip votes for comprehensive health reform.

A comprehensive bill is the only way to fix the health care system – from expanding Medicare benefits and lowering health care costs, to improving rural care and home care services.[*]A piecemeal approach will not address the vast, systemic problems in our health care system.

In the next 72 hours – before President Obama delivers his State of the Union address – we have a real opportunity to rescue health reform. Will you do your part, and find out where your member of Congress stands on passing a comprehensive bill?

Click here to whip a vote for health reform.

Call your members in Congress, and ask them, "Do you plan to support the passage of a comprehensive health reform bill that guarantees affordability and holds insurers accountable?"

Click-to-Call Congress

I’ve talked to some folks who say, "Oh, I know my Congresswoman supports reform. She voted for it last year, so I don’t need to call." But that’s incorrect. Some elected officials, including House members who voted for health reform last year, are considering backing away from comprehensive reform. That’s why everyone needs to call Congress today.

Click-to-call your member of Congress for comprehensive reform.

I can’t stress enough how important your call is today. Let’s finish the job, and finish it right.

Thanks for whipping a vote,

I drink more than one can of soda a day that is for sure.  I drink Coke and I have been trying to break the habit.  I need to stop drinking Coke.  I guess I need to watch this NYC anti-soad ad each day.
